The proposal's small-scale, versatile new construction strengthens the vibrant village center of Lapinjärvi while respecting the delicate general appearance of the historical landscape. The plan ties the new residential areas and versatile recreation routes into a part of the intimate milieu of the village center and strengthens the scenically valuable sight lines. Massing of the quarters and the courtyards varies from porous to compact and the new paths delimit the area. Common yards and their shared communal spaces support memory-friendly living. The concept promotes larger-scale use of social spaces in blocks and residential areas and makes the church village an even more active place to live, regardless of age.
